OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury women's soccer team hung tough with Skyline Conference foe
Mount Saint Mary all game long, but a pair of goals by Lauren Dorsa
propelled the visiting Blue Knights to a 2-0 victory, spoiling the
Panthers home opener Saturday afternoon at Panther Park. Old
Westbury moves to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference action as
Mount Saint Mary improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
The Old Westbury defensive attack of juniors Jennifer Campisi
(Commack, N.Y.) and Mikele Reitmayr (Wantagh, N.Y.) along with
sophomore goalkeeper Deborah Ciccarelli (St. James, N.Y.) held
Mount Saint Mary at bay for the opening 44 minutes of play until
Lauren Dorsa put one past the outstretched arms of Ciccarelli for
the score. Dorsa would strike again in the 67th
minute on a cross by Colleen Ryan for a header past Ciccarelli,
giving the Blue Knights a 2-0 advantage.
Mount Saint Mary finished the game with a 21-10 advantage in
shots while Old Westbury concluded with a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Old Westbury was paced by freshman Cassandra Esposito (Valley
Stream, N.Y.) and junior Jessica Manning (Carle Place, N.Y.).
