STATEN ISLAND CLAIMS 85-74 VICTORY OVER MEN'S
SWIMMING

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury men's swimming team lost a dual-meet to College of Staten
Island, 85-74 on Tuesday evening at the Old Westbury Aquatic
Center.
Leading the way for the Panthers were freshman, Robert Rooney
(Uniondale, N.Y.) and Niclas Naslund (Stockholm, Sweden) and
sophomores, Nicholous Perdomo (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Ronald Ott
(Garden City Park, N.Y.), who captured first place finishes.
Rooney claimed first in the 500 freestyle (8:09.55) and followed
with second in the 200 freestyle (2:33.12). Naslund made his
first appearance of the season and clocked a 1:09.75 in the 100
freestyle to garner first place. Perdomo touched at 1:15.33
to tally first-place honors in the 100 butterfly while classmate
Ronald Ott won the 100 backstroke (2:32.29).
Old Westbury took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a swim
time of 1:57.54 anchored by Nicholous Perdomo, Nicals Naslund,
Robert Rooney and junior John Rodgers (Hempstead, N.Y.).
Rooney, Rodgers, Perdomo and Ronald Ott teamed up for the 200
medley relay to claim second-place in 2:24.32.
The Green and Ivory will be back in the pool on Saturday,
January 31st when they travel to Mount Saint Mary
College for a double-dual meet with the Blue Knights and Staten
