STATEN ISLAND, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's swimming team took on the College of State Island Dolphins in a non-conference meet on Wednesday evening at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center in Staten Island. Old Westbury lost by a 97-84 margin to move to 1-5 on the season.
Individually, the Panthers were led in the pool by junior
Stephen Paul (Staten Island, NY), who claimed the lone individual victory for Old Westbury, finishing first in the 50 breast at 41.61 while sophomore
Gregory Mertens (Hicksville, NY) followed in second at 43.65. Paul clocked a time of 1:31.51 to register second in the 100 breast. Junior
Ronald Ott (Garden City Park, NY) finished second in the 50 back (47.18) and 299 free (2:44.15). Mertens raced to second place in the 100 free, touching the wall at 1:02.40. Junior
Nicholous Perdomo (Hempstead, NY) and freshman
Sean Challenger (Spring Valley, NY) took home second in the 50 free (25.77) and 100 back (1:06.46), respectively.
