www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team notched their second consecutive double digit shutout victory after dominating the Maritime Privateers to the tune of 10-0, Tuesday afternoon at Panther Park. OW improves to 6-5 on the season and 4-1 against the Skyline Conference while Maritime slipped to 1-11 and 1-4.
After being named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday,
Joanna Kettell came out and recorded her second straight hat-trick, scoring goals at 31:39, 42:21, and 67:51. She also assisted on a score by
Victoria Stewart at 50:44. Kettell is the first Panther in program history to record back-to-back hat-tricks. She finished with seven points on the day and has now accumulated 18 points (7 goals, 4 assists) over the last two matches.
OW took a 1-0 lead at 17:16 as
Cassandra Esposito scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season off a pass from
Kelsey Durkot. The junior connected on the pass to give OW a quick advantage. Moments later, Esposito netted her second goal at the 23:30 mark when
Jarelis Torres found her for her third helper of the season.
Kelsey Durkot assisted Joanna Kettell's first goal of the game at 31:39. In the 37th minute,
Samantha Clancy found the back of the net for her second goal of the season via the assist from
Victoria Stewart, her third of the season.
Jennifer Kupfer sank a penalty kick at 37:12 to five OW a five goal advantage before
Joanna Kettell scored her eighth goal of the season at 42:21 on an assist from
Cassandra Esposito.
Victoria Stewart posted her first multi-goal game with goals at 50:44 and 53:00 to put OW ahead 8-0 as
Joanna Kettell and
Samantha Clancy were credited with the assists, respectively. At 67:51,
Kelsey Durkot tied a program record with her third assist when
Joanna Kettell netted her third goal of the match to complete the hat-trick.
Mary Naula scored her first career goal in the 70th minute of play to extend Old Westbury's lead to 10-0
Chynna Pitlock notched her fourth shutout of the season in goal for the Panthers as she recorded one save. Maritime's Molly Divens gave up 10 goals, while making 15 stops.
OW outshot the Privateers 50-2 on the match, including a 25-1 edge in shots on goal. Maritime's first shot of the game came in the 74th minute of play as Chynna Pitlcok made the stop on Samantha Easterman.
As a team, Old Westbury set season highs in assists (9) and shots (50) and individually in 12 shots by each by
Cassandra Esposito &
Joanna Kettell. Esposito and Kettell also landed a season-high eight shots on goal.
