CENTERVILLE, MA (www.oldwesturypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team has accepted an invitation to play in the ECAC Metro Tournament and will host an opening round game on Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Clark Athletic Center against the Medgar
Evers Cougars.

The Panthers finished the 2009-10 season 20-7 overall, and posted a 17-3 Skyline Conference record. Old Westbury enters post-season play after defeating Maritime, 61-46, in the semifinal round of the 2010 Skyline Conference Tournament, before falling short to Purchase, 92-79, in the championship game of the conference tourney at the Clark Athletic Center.

Old Westbury won the ECAC Metro Championship in 1987 and is making its second ECAC appearance in the past four years after last competing in 2007 against Richard Stockton. Richard Stockton knocked off the Panthers 78-73 in the quart final round in Old Westbury and advanced all the way to the championship game.

The Medgar Evers Cougars enter the match-up with Old Westbury after posting 13-13 record this season. The Cougars were eliminated by the Hunter Hawks in the quarter final round of the CUNYAC Tournament on February 20.

If the Panthers win their opening round game against the Cougars, a second round game will be played against the winner of No. 4 Stevens and No. 5 Baruch on Saturday.
