PITTSFORD, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team was defeated Saturday afternoon in its first game in the St. John Fisher Tournament, 8-1, by the Brockport Golden Eagles in Pittsford, New York. With the victory, the Golden Eagles improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 0-2 overall.
At the 13:14 mark in the first half, Nikki Hall found the back of the net to put Brockport on the board first. Under eight minutes later, Courtney Belding scored to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Brockport added three more scores before half time on goals by Sarah Lawson (22:58), Kaila Maguire (35:59) and Lindsey Hudson (44:36).
In the second half, Kaila Maguire scored goals at 50:52 and 52:31 to complete the hatrick before
Jennifer Kupfer netted Old Westbury's first goal of the season at the 60:29 mark. Kupfer blasted the ball from 25 yards out off a free kick that landed past the outstretched arms of Brockport keeper Erin Asquith. Macy Reyngoudt capped the scoring for Brockport in the 74th minute from 10 yards out.
Brockport outshot Old Westbury 14-0 in the first half and 19-3 for the match in addition to a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. The Panthers were able to get shots on goal by
Jennifer Kupfer and
Joanna Kettell. Brockport had 13 shots on goals. Erub Asquith, was able to make one save in net for the Golden Eagles while
Chynna Pitlock had five for OW.
BARD RAPTORS NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action in the consolation game at the St. John Fisher Tournament on Sunday, September 5, as they take on Skyline Conference foe, Bard College. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Pittsford, New York.
