OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury swimming program put forth a great team effort but was unable to overcome the Staten Island Dolphins in a non-conference meet Tuesday evening at the Old Westbury Aquatic Center. Staten Island downed men's swimming, 91-74, and the women fell, 85-52.
Old Westbury ended the day with new individual records. Stephan Paul finished with a time of 1:11.77 in the men's 100 breaststroke.
Nicholous Perdomo registered a time of 7:00.80 in the 500 freestyle.
The women's swimming team captured four first place finishes. Christa Foershner finished first in the 100 backstroke event with a time of 1:28.75.
Rebecca Huang was the top finisher with a time of 11:29.37 in the 500 freestyle.
Yi Yuan touched the wall in 1:50.91 to record first place honors in the 100 breaststroke. Christa Foershner,
Marissa Smith,
Amanda Azpiri and
Rebecca Huang contributed to the first place victory in the women's 400 freestyle relay.
The men's swimming team had four top finishes.
Cameron Russo placed first in the 200 freestyle with a score of 2:15.00. Russo also finished first in the 100 freestyle at 55.49. Stephan Paul (100 breaststroke) and
Nicholous Perdomo (500 freestyle) clocked first place finishes while
Gregory Mertens,
Morgan Miller,
Cameron Russo and
Jonathan Rosado came in first place in the 400 freestyle relay.
MOUNT SAINT VINCENT, SARAH LAWRENCE UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Thursday (Jan. 27), in the Old Westbury, New York. The women's squad will host Mount Saint Vincent and Sarah Lawrence for a double-dual while the men take on the MSV Dolphins. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Old Westbury Aquatic Center.
