Stephanie Maybie in the 85th minute lift the Panthers past St. Joseph's-L.I., 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at Diamond in the Pines. It was the Panthers' first ever win over the Golden Eagles in four meetings between the teams (1-3). Old Westbury improves to 4-5 overall (3-1 Skyline) with the victory, while St. Joseph's-L.I. falls to 6-4-1 overall (2-1 Skyline).
Old Westbury's first goal of the afternoon came off the foot of
Cassandra Esposito, who netted the unassisted goal at 7:17, her team-leading seventh of the season. St. Joseph's-L.I. goalkeeper Kayla Flowers stretched to the right to save the shot but couldn't keep a handle on the ball. Just under eight minutes later, St. Joseph's-L.I. leveled the score with Caitlin Halloran's rattled the back left side of the net on an assist from Victoria Hassett. The score was locked for the remainder of the first-half, tied at 1-1, with St. Joseph's-L.I. holding 6-4 advantage in shots.
