OLD WESTBURY SWIMMING CAPTURES TWO WINS AT DOUBLE-DUAL AGAINST YORK & MOUNT SAINT VINCENT

Men win 11-of-12 events while women earn victories in six events

(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams captured the top spot in 17 of the 24 events during competition in a double-dual meet against York and Mount Saint Vincent to leave Jamaica, New York with two victories.  The Panther men (2-2) bested the York Cardinals 87-16 followed by a 78-20 victory over the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins.  On the women's side, Old Westbury (2-3) swam past both competitors in the pool and claimed 54-46 and 68-30 victories over York and Mount Saint Vincent, respectively.
  
Old Westbury men's swimmers captured victories in 11-of-12 events.  Bryan Woodhead, Cameron Russo, Ricky Damiano and Stephen Paul each claimed a pair of first-place finishes leading OW to victory.  Woodhead, who was named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll, won the 200 freestyle (3:18.00) and 100 backstroke (1:01.35) events.  Russo finished first in the 50 freestyle (27.75) and 100 freestyle (1:02.07).  Damiano earned top honors in the 200 IM (2:51.18) and 100 butterfly (27.99).  Paul grabbed the wall first during the 50 breaststroke (35.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.62) events.  Thomas Mauro touched first in the 50 backstroke in 34.13.  Woodhead, Paul, Damiano and Russo teamed up for win the 200 medley relay with a finish time of 1:59.79.  Old Westbury used Woodhead, Kareem Bryan, Damiano and Russo to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:33.47.

Janet Marmol and Lydia Coleman paced the Panther women with two individual first-place finishes each and one relay top finish.  Marmol swam top times in the 200 IM (2:53.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:32.67) while Coleman touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (30.38) and 100 freestyle (1:10.57) events.  Hayley McGinn posted a victory in the 200 freestyle in 3:13.28.  The quartet of Marmol, Lauren White, McGinn and Coleman secured first-place when they finished the 200 freestyle relay with a season-best time of 1:48.68. 

BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury swimming returns to the pool on Saturday (Nov. 19) in Brooklyn, New York for a non-conference matchup against the Brooklyn Bulldogs at 12 p.m.
