OW registered season-best times in six events

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) ––The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams hosted the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and York Cardinals for a non-conference meet Thursday evening in Old Westbury, New York.  Old Westbury split the meet, sweeping York (Men's Swimming W, 80-8/Women's Swimming W, 52-35) while falling to U.S.M.M.A. (Men's Swimming L, 55-39/Women's Swimming L, 55-36). 

Lydia Coleman paced the women's squad as she set season-best times in the 50 freestyle (26.93) and 100 freestyle events (59.07), placing first and second, respectively.  Coleman also teamed up with Christa Foerschner, Janet Marmol and Hayley McGinn to lock in a season-best time in the 200 medley relay (2:22.33) for a second place finish.  Foerschner, Ashleigh Morris, Christina Nelson and McGinn nabbed first place in the 200 freestyle relay with a finish time of 2:20.16. 

On the men's side, Bryan Woodhead captured first place finishes in the 50 freestyle (21.67) and 100 freestyle (48.07) races.  He set season-best times in the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle (5:41.44) races. Stephan Paul also swam a season best time in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:10.76.  In relay action, Michael Bayne, Carl Nowicki, Adolphe Demesyeux and Ricky Damiano team up to take first place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:44.76).

MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS ON SENIOR DAY: Old Westbury returns to the pool on Saturday (Jan. 21) in Old Westbury, New York for a Skyline Conference showdown against the Mount Saint Mary Knights on Senior Day.  Race time is scheduled for 1 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.  Prior to start time, seniors Christa Foerschner, Leeanna Ladouceur, Luis Montoya and Stephan Paul will be honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Panthers Athletics.
