BRONXVILLE, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury swim teams were in action Thursday evening on the road against the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons from the Campbell Sports Center Pool. The men (3-4) won by a 109-79 margin while the women (2-7) fell 138-57.
Bryan Woodhead paced the men with a trio of victories. Individually, Woodhead finished first in the 50 freestyle (25.84) and 100 backstroke (55.52) races while he teamed up with
Carl Nowicki,
Michael Bayne and
Rashaad Bryan to take down the 200 freestyle relay first place honors in 1:38.96.
Rashaad Bryan swam to a first place finish in the 1,000 freestyle in 13:04.68, Old Westbury's third best event time of the season.
Kareem Bryan grabbed the wall in 2:10.79 to win the 200 freestyle and Nowicki coasted with a time of 59.00 to claim victory in the 100 freestyle.
Zach Abatelli racked up first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.69.
Tim Rice, Abatelli,
Kareem Bryan and Bayne recorded the 200 medley relay win in 2:05.46.
On the women's side,
Lydia Coleman touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.05. Coleman also combined with
Janet Marmol,
Larissa Kavitsky and
Hayley McGinn to win the 200 freestyle relay with a season best time of 1:58.86.
Melanie Barone and Marmol both finished in second place with season best times in the 1,000 freestyle (15:18.20) and 100 butterfly (1:27.24) events, respectively.
MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS AND MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury swim teams returns to the pool on Saturday (Jan. 19) in Old Westbury, New York for a Skyline Conference showdown with the Mount Saint Mary Knights and Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins . Race time is scheduled for 12 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center Pool.
