Takis Kellarakos and Jessie O’Hagan each won three races to pace Old Westbury to victory

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury swimming team swept both the men's and the women's meets Tuesday night in their home opener, defeating the Brooklyn Bulldogs from Clark Athletic Center. The men's team won 99.5-97.5 and the women's team won 92-91.

Overall, Old Westbury won 13 of the 22 events, with the men taking eight and the women five.

On the women's side, Jessie O'Hagan led the way, taking the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.28) and 100-yard-backstroke (1:13.52) events, in addition to teaming up with Mallory Buzyniski, Jennifer Castillo and Hayley McGinn to win the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.14. McGinn finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (29.63) and Buzyniski took first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.25) race.

On the men's side, Takis Kellarakos led the team with three event wins, taking the 1,000-yard freestyle (13:26.14), 500-yard freestyle (6:16.07) and as a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.91) team. Kellarakos opened the men's meet with David Stanley, Santino Patrizi and Kareem Bryan to claim victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay race. Yalli Marcan followed with victories in the 50-yard freestyle (24.65) and 100-yard freestyle (55.15) events. Bryan (100-yard butterfly, 1:04.68), Stanley (100-yard backstroke, 1:04.51) and Patrizi (100-yard breaststroke, 1:14.41) also claimed individual victories.

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 13) against the Maritime Privateers in a Skyline Conference battle from Riesenberg Hall Pool at 6 p.m. in Throggs Neck, New York.
