BROOKLYN, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team opened up its 2014 campaign on a solid note on Tuesday evening, downing the York Cardinals, 6-1, from Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York.   With the win, the Panthers move to 1-0 for the second straight season, while the Cardinals fall to 0-1 to begin the 2014 season.

Jordan Schildt broke Old Westbury's season scoring ice at the 10:39 mark after converting a turnover in front of the Cardinal net to score her ninth-career goal.  Moments later, the Panthers doubled its advantage when Dana Yool found Stephanie Maybie for a two-goal lead.  Alexis Radziul made it a three-goal game at 30:48 with her first-career goal and then added her second at 37:39 off a feed from Yool to give the Panthers a 4-0 cushion.  Old Westbury held a 23-2 edge in shots and 6-0 in the corner at the end of 45 minutes.

Old Westbury picked up right where they left off as Maybie netted her second goal of the game at 52:33 to record her 13th career multi-goal game.  With the tally, Maybie has now scored four goals in four career appearances against York.  Schildt then netted her third career multi-goal game at 55:46 for Old Westbury's sixth and final goal of the game.  Estefany Delgado scored off a penalty kick at 72:41 to put York on the board.  Delgado's goal ended York's 342:41 minute scoreless streak against the Panthers.

The two teams then played the final 17:19 of scoreless soccer as Old Westbury claimed a 6-1 final to improve to 4-0 all-time against the Cardinals.

Old Westbury keeper Caitlin Thomas played the entire first half in goal, making two saves, before Melissa Muller played the final 45 minutes.  Kiara Libreros made 14 saves in defeat for the Cardinals.

In the end, Old Westbury outshot York 38-3 and held a 10-0 advantage in corners.
