Old Westbury combined to capture 15 second-place finishes against USMMA and York

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming split a double dual meet Wednesday evening with the York Cardinals and United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners from York College Pool. The Panther women claimed a 122-52 decision over the Cardinals before falling 119-60 to USMMA. On the men's side, Old Westbury captured a 125-47 result over York and fell 111-67 to the Mariners. In total, Old Westbury captured 15 second-place finishes.

Old Westbury's 200-meter medley relay team of Sara Bey, Melanie Barone, Anesa Fiyazuddeen and Allie McDonough combined to finish second in 3:08.32. Old Westbury ended the meet on a high note in the 200-meter freestyle relay, with the team of Natasha Treuman, Bey, Jessica Tuckruskye and Samantha Imbembo touching the wall in 2:39.65 to finish second.

Kayleigh Aiello led the Panther efforts for the women in the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly with times of 2:56.73 and 1:36.78, respectively, to finish second in both races. Imbembo (800-meter freestyle, 14:36.81), McDonough (100-meter freestyle, 1:26.44) and Barone (100-meter breaststroke, 1:48.19) all recorded second-place finishes.

Jonathan Derby led the Panther men with a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-meter IM (1:20.00) and 100-meter backstroke (1:31.48) events. Also pacing Old Westbury in multiple events with second-place finishes were Ian Febres (800-meter freestyle, 13:31.07), Kevin Ryersen (200-meter freestyle, 2:49.40), Rashaad Bryan (100-meter butterfly, 1:10.81), Tim Rice (100-meter freestyle (1:02.51) and Jonah Wegener (400-meter freestyle, 6:43.67).

Old Westbury's 200-meter freestyle relay team of Ryersen, Daniel Laferriere, Yani Lukelo and Rice finished second with a time of 2:24.02.

MOUNT SAINT MARY AND MOUNT SAINT VINCENT UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to Skyline Conference action next Saturday (Jan. 23) in Newburgh, New York when they take on the Mount Saint Mary Knights and Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at 1 p.m. inside Kaplan Center.
