@OW_Panthers Swimming sweeps Mount Saint Vincent in regular-season finale

Old Westbury closed out the regular season Wednesday on the road and will look to carry its momentum into the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships (Jan. 29-30)

NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming captured 121-15 and 108-49 victories over the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins, respectively, in Wednesday's regular-season finale in Skyline Conference road action from Newburgh, New York. Old Westbury fell to the host Mount Saint Mary Knights, 123-57 on the men's side, and by a 143-49 count in women's action.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Tim Rice collected Old Westbury's lone win with a season-best time of 58.04, while also capturing second place in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.91.

Jonah Wegener placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 15:03.03 and Zach Abatelli touched second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:34.32.

Rice also teamed up with Kevin Ryersen, Daniel Laferriere and Yani Lukelo to claim second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:06.21. Ryerson combined with Jonathan Derby, Santino Patrizi and Ian Febres to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:00.72.

Samantha Imbembo had the second-fastest time in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 16:30.41 to pace the Panther women.

Imbembo was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team with Natasha Treuman, Sara Bey and Jessica Tuckruskye that finished third in 2:23.93. Old Westbury placed third in the 200-yard medley relay as Jessie O'Hagan, Kayleigh Aiello, Melanie Barone and Allie McDonough touched the wall in 2:26.15.

SKYLINE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. for day one of the Skyline Conference Championships (Jan. 29-30) from Riesenberg Hall Pool on the campus of Maritime College in Throggs Neck, New York.
