Old Westbury claimed first-place points in four events Saturday afternoon at Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming returned to Skyline Conference road action Saturday afternoon against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears in Bronxville, New York.

The Panther men defeated St. Joseph's, 123-28, before falling 96-81 to the host Gryphons. Old Westbury lost to both Sarah Lawrence (123-58) and St. Joseph's (133-49) in women's action.

Takis Kellarakos paced the Panther men with victories in both the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.60) and 1,000-yard freestyle (13:18.97) races. Lorenzo Cusumano won the 100-yard backstroke event in 1:27.96, while Kevin Ryersen placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.80) and 100-yard freestyle (1:00.58). Jonah Wegener (200-yard IM, 3:03.18) and Ian Febres (100-yard butterfly, 1:19.60) claimed second place in their respective events.

Cusumano, Wegener, Febres and Chaz La Salle-Cruz opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:15.43. In the 200-yard freestyle relay event, Ryersen, Febres, Kellarakos and La Salle-Cruz combined to earn first-place points in 1:47.78 as Jack Costanzo, Nicolas Flores, Jose Gomez and Elijah Lee took second in 2:16.59.

On the women's side, Mia Hidalgo recorded the Panthers' top individual-finish by touching the wall third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:34.05 as Megan Hanselman followed in fourth (1:37.00). Samantha Imbembo swam the 1,000-yard freestyle fourth in 15:53.69 while Jessica Tuckruskye clocked a 1:23.89 in the 100-yard freestyle to collect fourth place.

Sara Bey, Tatianna Pizarro, Imbembo and Hidalgo teamed to earn second-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:17:43 as Habiba Nofal, Tuckruskye, Laura Diaz and Sarah Roslonowski registered a third-place time of 2:46.39.

BARUCH COLLEGE BEARCATS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS ON SENIOR DAY: Old Westbury returns home Monday (Nov. 21) for Senior Day at 6 p.m. against the Baruch College Bearcats inside Clark Athletic Center. The 2016-17 swimming senior class consisting of Sara Bey, Jonathan Derby, Daniel Laferriere, Sezgi Giray, Jessie O'Hagan, Kevin Ryersen and Jessica Tuckruskye will be honored prior to the first event for their dedicated to Old Westbury.
