@OW_Panthers Swimming concludes Skyline Conference slate against St. Joseph’s (L.I.) and USMMA

Old Westbury closed out its 2016 portion of the schedule Friday evening in Skyline Conference action at St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming closed out the Skyline Conference portion of their schedules Friday evening on the road against the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles and United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners in Patchogue, New York.

The Panther men fell to the Mariners with a 109-44 final as Old Westbury lost to both the host Golden Eagles (74-17) and USMMA (86-8) in women's action inside Danzi Center.

Jessie O'Hagan paced the Panther women by touching the wall third in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:37.51. Mia Hidalgo added a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200-yard IM (2:54.82) and 200-yard breaststroke (3:23.52) races.

O'Hagan also had her hand in both of the team's third-place relay finishes. The quartet of O'Hagan, Megan Hanselman, Tatianna Pizarro and Jessica Tuckruskye combined to finish third in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:24.56 before Habiba Nofal, Hidalgo, Pizarro and O'Hagan registered third-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:10.19.

On the men's side, Chaz La Salle-Cruz, Takis Kellarakos, Ian Febres and Kevin Ryersen collected second-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:51.51.

La Salle-Cruz (200-yard freestyle, 2:54.77; 100-yard freestyle, 1:11.50) and Jonah Wegener (1,000-yard freestyle, 15:41.00, 200-yard breaststroke, 3:24.02) both paced Old Westbury by earning second-place points in multiple events. Kellarakos (500-yard freestyle, 6:16.51), Ryersen (50-yard freestyle, 25.16), Febres (200-yard butterfly, 3:33.15) and Lorenzo Cusumano (200-yard backstroke, 3:14.15) also contributed second-place points.

YORK COLLEGE CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens 2017 on the road with its regular-season finale January 24 against the York College Cardinals at 6 p.m. in Jamaica, New York.
