Old Westbury opens its home slate Monday (Nov. 13) with a Skyline Conference showdown versus SUNY Maritime

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's swimming (1-1) claimed their first victory of the season Friday evening with a 143-46 decision to the York College Cardinals (0-5) in non-conference action from York College Swimming Pool in Jamaica, New York. The Panther men fell to 0-2 on the young season after dropping a 118-72 setback to York (1-2-1).

Old Westbury dominated to win 10 of 11 events on the women's side as Nicolette Faldetta's trio of victories powered the Panthers. Faldetta touched the wall first in the 50-meter freestyle (31.87), 100-meter butterfly (1:33.67) and 100-meter backstroke (1:22.88) races. Brenna Corr heled Old Westbury to victory with a pair of distance wins in the 400-meter freestyle (6:14.26) and 800-meter freestyle (12:30.68) events. Shannon Culkin won the 200-meter freestyle (2:55.89) and 200-meter IM (3:12.84) while finishing second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:38.11). Megan Hanselman added a first-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:28.05. Samantha Imbembo finished second in the 100-meter freestyle (1:27.09) and 400-meter freestyle (6:44.75) while Melody Young touched the wall second in the 200-meter freestyle (3:04.20) and 100-meter backstroke (1:38.57) events.

Young, Hanselman, Mia Hidalgo and Laura Diaz opened the meet to win the 200-meter medley relay in 2:57.84. Old Westbury closed out the evening with a victory by Diaz, Hidalgo, Habiba Nofal and Jessica Tuckruskye in the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:55.87.

On the men's side, Jonathan Ruiz captured Old Westbury's three first-place finishes by winning the 50-meter freestyle (26.73), 200-meter IM (2:43.56) and 100-meter backstroke (1:13.20) races. Takis Kellarakos finished second in the 400-meter freestyle (5:38.12) and 800-meter freestyle (11:46.01) while Lorenzo Cusumano contributed a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-meter backstroke (1:34.41) and 200-meter freestyle (3:16.80) competitions. Jack Costanzo touched the wall second in the 100-meter freestyle (1:31.41).

Old Westbury closed out the meet with a second-place showing in the 200-meter freestyle relay as Kellerakos, Jalen Bonitto, Jonah Wegener and Ian Febres combined to clock a 2:10.34.

SUNY MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens Skyline Conference play Monday (Nov. 13) with a home opener against the SUNY Maritime Privateers at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.
