@OW_Panthers Swimming concludes regular-season slate at Mount Saint Mary

Old Westbury returns to the pool next Friday at the opening day of the 2018 Skyline Conference Championships (Jan. 26-27)

NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury swimming is set to compete at the upcoming 2018 Skyline Conference Championships (Jan. 26-27) after competing in their regular-season finale Saturday afternoon on the road against the Mount Saint Mary College Knights in Newburgh, New York. The Knights swept Old Westbury with 125-31 men's final and a 141-23 women's decision.

Robert Chiu paced the Panther men with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:32.91. Jose Gomez added a pair of third-place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:26.14) and 500-yard freestyle (9:47.54) events. Ian Febres (100-yard butterfly, 1:30.54) and Jassell Mateo (200-yard freestyle, 3:13.12) also placed third in their respective events.

Chiu and Gomez teamed up with Jonah Wegener and Jalen Bonitto to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:34.85. Febres, Wegener, Bonitto and Klibensky Petit-Frère closed out the day by capturing second-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:11.88.

On the women's side, Shannon Culkin touched the wall third in the 500-yard freestyle race in 7:02.63. Melody Young collected third-place points in the 100-yard backstroke race in 1:23.53.

Culkin, Young, Samantha Imbembo, Jessica Tuckruskye combined to earn second-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:11.06. Imbembo, Young, Mia Hidalgo and Laura Diaz opened the meet with third-place points in the 200-yard medley relay (2:46.75).
