Old Westbury remains at home next Wednesday (Dec. 5) for a Senior Day matchup against against York College (NY)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming returned home Tuesday evening to host the John Jay College Bloodhounds and Sarah Lawrence Gryphons inside Clark Athletic Center. The Panther men dropped a 104-78 decision against Sarah Lawrence while Old Westbury came up short 115-10 to the Gryphons and 138-24 to John Jay in the women's meet.

Old Westbury closed out the meet strong with a 200-yard freestyle relay win as Spencer Young, Alex Dupkin, Dineer Estriplet and Austin Young combined to clock a 1:50.61. Timothy Probst, Aidan McCaughey, Estriplet and Spencer Young logged a 1:54.21 in the 200-yard medley relay to take second place.

McCaughey set Old Westbury's season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle with a winning time of 53.44. The Panthers dominated the 100-yard backstroke event with a victory by Jonathan Ruiz in 1:04.59 followed by Austin Young touching the wall second in 1:06.40. Ruiz also finished second in the 200-yard IM in 2:19.32. Alberto Matsuura placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:35.91) and 500-yard freestyle (7:38.33). Probst contributed a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 17:10.26.
On the women's side, Adelyn Veras paced Old Westbury with a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly race in 1:36.47 to score four points. She also placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:43.30) and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (32.21).

SENIOR DAY VERSUS YORK COLLEGE (NY) CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out its home slate next Wednesday (Dec. 5) with a non-conference Senior Day matchup against the York College (NY) Cardinals at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center. Prior to the start of the meet, seniors Robert Chiu (2017-19), Ian Febres (2015-19), Jonathan Ruiz (2017-19) will be honored for their dedication to SUNY Old Westbury Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.
