Old Westbury returns to action Friday (Dec. 7) with a Skyline Conference road matchup against United States Merchant Marine Academy and St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury swimming closed out their home schedule Wednesday evening with a Skyline Conference Toys for Tots Senior Day showdown versus the York College (NY) Cardinals inside Clark Athletic Center. The Panthers claimed a 125-41 victory in the men's race by setting three team-best times while dropping a 47-26 decision in the women's competition.

Prior to the start of the meet, seniors Robert Chiu (2017-19), Ian Febres (2015-19) and Jonathan Ruiz (2017-19) were honored for their dedication to SUNY Old Westbury Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.

Old Westbury opened the meet with Austin Young, Aidan McCaughey, Dineer Estriplet and Jonathan Ruiz combining to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:43.11. Timothy Probst, Febres, Alberto Matsuura and Jalen Bonitto closed out the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Panthers set a season-best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle race with Matsuura clocking a 15:42.15. McCaughey cemented a team-best time in the 200-yard freestyle with a winning time of 2:05.46 followed by Spencer Young taking second in 2:31.05. McCaughey also recorded Old Westbury's season-best time in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.78) while winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.78) for his third individual victory of the meet. As part of 11-team victories on the day, Matsuura won the 500-yard freestyle (7:32.73). Old Westbury dominated the 50-yard freestyle with Ruiz claiming victory in 24.03 while Febres (28.27) and Alex Dupkin (29.11) touched the wall second and third, respectively. Ruiz also won the 200-yard IM in 2:20.28 and Estriplet captured a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.09). The Panthers placed one-two-three in the 100-yard freestyle led by Febres (1:08.60) and contributions from Dupkin (1:09.22) and Bonitto (1:15.26).

On the women's side, Adelyn Veras won the 50-yard freestyle in 32.52 while Magan Blige placed second in 40.82. Veras grabbed the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:47.49 and took second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:36.51).

JOSEPH'S COLLEGE (BROOKLYN) BEARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out its regular season schedule Friday (Dec. 7) with a Skyline Conference road matchup against the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears at 6 p.m. from Kings Point, New York inside O'Hara Pool.
