Old Westbury is back in the pool Tuesday (Nov. 12) for its home opener against Maritime College

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming returned to the pool Saturday afternoon on the road against the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons, Mount Saint Mary Knights and Baruch College Bearcats inside Campbell Sports Center in Bronxville, New York.  The Panther men suffered setbacks to the Knights, Bearcats and the hosts Gryphons by final scores of 97-50, 148-29 and 84-50, respectively while Mount Saint Mary, Baruch and Sarah Lawrence completed the sweep of Old Westbury with final tallies of 115-22, 154-16 and 88-27, respectively.
 
Daniel McCartney led the Panther men in the 50-yard freestyle with time of 24.18 to claim second place and put together a season best time of 2:22.19 in the 200-yard IM race for fifth place.  Joseph Malone followed with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly event in a time of 1:01.01 while Daniel Grinchenko captured sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.74) and seventh place in the 50-yard freestyle (30.10) races.  Timothy Probst claimed seventh and eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle (3:04.65) and 200-yard IM (2:58.01) races while Alejandro Ruiz-Soto placed eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:16.41) and competed in the 50-yard freestyle (34.52) event. Lorenzo Cusumano (third-place, 33.61) and Tilyk Bonner (44.64) swam in the 50-yard freestyle as Elijah Lee took ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:19.74) in his season debut. 
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Probst, Cusumano, Austin Young and McCartney combined to finish in 1:56.01 to take third place.
 
On the women's side, Mia Hidalgo finished the 200-yard freestyle race in a time of 2:47.33 to place fifth and added an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:31.34).  Magan Blige followed with seventh and eighth place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (38.51) and 100-yard freestyle (1:28.52).  Diana Castellanos chipped in with seventh and ninth place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (3:29.05) and 100-yard freestyle (1:29.48) events while Rebecca Warshauer touched the wall for eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle (39.57)

Old Westbury opens its home schedule Tuesday (Nov. 12) evening with a Skyline Conference matchup against the Maritime College Privateers at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.
