Old Westbury returns to action Wednesday (Nov. 6) against Lehman College

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming returned to the pool Saturday afternoon on the road against the Purchase College Panthers and St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles from Danzi Center Pool in Patchogue, New York.  Purchase swept Old Westbury with a 103-68 men's score and a 109-20 women's final while the Panther women dropped a 128-23 decision to the host Golden Eagles.

Joseph Malone led the Panther men with three first-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.99), 500-yard freestyle (5:28.03) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:06.04) events.  Daniel McCartney followed by capturing two wins in the 50-yard freestyle (25.93) and 100-yard freestyle (54.19) races.  Jassell Mateo finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:15.66 while Austin Young (100-yard backstroke, 1:34.43) and Timothy Probst (200-yard freestyle, 2:42.47) placed second in their respective events.  Lorenzo Cusumano (200-yard freestyle, 2:57.59) and Alejandro Ruiz-Soto (100-yard freestyle, 1:12.60) added third-place finishes.

Mateo, Ruiz-Soto, Young and Tilyk Bonner combined to finish the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:50.05.

On the women's side, Mia Hidalgo paced Old Westbury with a time of 15:32.88 in the 1,000-yard freestyle to finish in third place.  Hidalgo also finished in fourth-place in a time of 1:13.20 in the 100-yard freestyle, followed by Magan Blige in sixth place at 1:40.91.  In the 200-yard freestyle event, Dina Terki finished the race in 3:16.71 and Diana Castellanos touched the wall in 3:46.86 to place fifth.  Rebecca Warshauer finished in seventh place in at time of 46.76 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Alison Sanchez-Montano, Domanaye Newman, Yvette Domond and Blige finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:33.86).
