Lou DeCicco Tabbed as Next Head Coach for the SUNY Old Westbury Women’s Lacrosse Program

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -   SUNY Old Westbury's Director of Athletics and Recreation, Lenore Walsh has announced the hiring of Lou DeCicco as the next head coach of the women's lacrosse program.

"I want to thank SUNY Old Westbury for giving me the opportunity to rebuild and grow the women's lacrosse program. I am excited to work alongside everyone in the athletic department as we take the steps needed to become a competitive team in the Skyline Conference and ultimately fight for a championship", said DeCicco
 
DeCicco joins the Panthers with a bulk of lacrosse coaching experience from a variety of levels. DeCicco has experience coaching club, high school and collegiate athletes.
 
DeCicco started the Briarcliffe College men's lacrosse program, capturing a conference championship in the team's second year. DeCicco also played a crucial role in the inception of the women's lacrosse program at Queens College. 
 
At the high school level, DeCicco coached both the boys' and girls' lacrosse teams at Benjamin Cardozo High School (PSAL). There, he led the teams to four PSAL City Championship appearances, with playoff berths every season. DeCicco was also the head coach of Island Trees High School Boys' Varsity Lacrosse, where his team was voted Most Improved Team in Nassau County in 2017.
 
DeCicco was named the US Lacrosse Man of the Year for the NY Metro Division in 2012.
 
As a player himself, DeCicco was a standout defenseman at Division Avenue High School. DeCicco later went on to play lacrosse at Adelphi University, where he and the Panthers would make two NCAA Championship appearances.
 
DeCicco will look to bring his skills to Old Westbury and make an immediate impact on the Panthers' women's lacrosse program.
