BRONXVILLE, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old
Westbury women's swimming team opened their 2008-09 season with a
stunning 107-74 dual meet defeat to Sarah Lawrence College in
Bronxville, New York on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers were
led by sophomore Inez Zuska (Brooklyn, N.Y.), freshman Meko He
(Guangzhou, China) and classmate Bella Bi (Qingdao, China) who each
had event wins.
Old Westbury got off to a slow start in the meet but finished
strong with a relay win. The team of Inez Zuska, Rumeng Chen,
Brooklyn Esposito and Esther Bae claimed first place in the 200
freestyle relay.
In addition to being a part of the winning medley relay, Zuska
won the 200 freestyle followed by freshman Esther Bae (Sunnyside,
N.J.), who took second place. The Old Westbury sophomore added a
second place finish in both the 50 backstroke and 50 freestyle
events. Meko He claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke
while classmate Bella Bi won the 100 individual
medley.
Old Westbury claimed three third place paced by Esther Bae in
the 50 and 100 backstroke and freshman Brooklyn Esposito (Saratoga
Springs, N.Y.) in the 50 breaststroke.
The Green and Ivory will be back in the pool next Tuesday,
November 18th, when they host St. Joseph's College-L.I.
in Skyline Conference dual meet action. The meet gets
underway at 7:00 p.m. from the Old Westbury Aquatic Center.
