PANTHERS EDGED BY ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. IN CONFERENCE OPENER

PATCHOGUE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUY College at Old Westbury women's swimming team was defeated, 72-62, by St. Joseph's-L.I. on Tuesday evening during the Skyline Conference opener in Patchogue. With the loss, the women's swim team fell to 0-3 on the season.
Old Westbury captured second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The swimmers, who combined for second place with a time of 2:46.60, were freshman Melissa Spleen (Hempstead, NY), freshman Jiwon Lee (Daegu, South Korea), sophomore Amanda Olsson-Boman (Stockholm, Sweeden) and freshman Marissa Smith (Melville, NY).
In the 200 IM, Amanda Olsson-Boman took first place with a time of 2:40.83 and was followed by Melissa Spleen who finished at 3:58.52. Melissa Spleen took first place in the 100 backstroke in 2:11.29 while freshman Stephanie Gonzalez-Ferrer (Brooklyn, NY) grabbed the wall in 2:19.45 to earn second place.
DOUBLE DUAL MEET NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury will take on Sarah Lawrence College and Mount Saint Mary College in double-dual meet on Monday, November 30 at Sarah Lawrence.
