OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team picked up its fourth home win of the season Wednesday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Manhattanville Valiants. The win improved the Panthers record to 4-3 in all competitions.

After falling behind in the 12th minute, forward JoAnna Kettell brought things back level just three minutes later, when she volleyed home a Stephanie Maybie cross from the left side. It was the senior's seventh goal of the season and her fourth in the last three games.

The Panthers then took the lead in the 36th minute courtesy of Monika Santelli's first career Panther's goal. The senior found space in the box and buried an Edania Martinez cross, also from the left side of the pitch.

Manhattanville's Kerri Durkin got the Valiants back into the match early in the second half with her second goal of the match, but Stephanie Maybie proved too hot to handle for the visitors. In the 73rd minute, the junior banged in a rebound off the post to put the Panthers up 3-2.

Following the goal, Old Westbury coach Craig Newman dropped Maybie back to play central defense, but the junior, who had 19 goals in 2012, still found a way to score.

Following an Old Westbury free kick near the half-way line, Maybie picked up the ball 40 yards out from goal and blasted a shot that dipped hard and found the left side of the net. The highlight-reel goal was Maybie's sixth of the season.

Jenna Donahue picked up the last tally of the match in the 80th minute, when she pounced on a Kettell rebound in front of goal.
Keeper Caitlin Thomas didn't see much action in a game in which the Panthers outshot Manhattanville 28-11 (17-4 on target).

Other strong performances came from freshmen defenders Sara Bey and Lucia Mejia, who did well to stifle the Manhattanville attack.

MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a conference battle with the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins on Sunday (Sept. 29) in Yonkers, NY. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. from Tibbets Brook Park.
