Old Westbury set season-best times in four events at home on Thursday evening

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury swimming teams were unable to overcome an early deficit to the visiting Lehman Lightning, falling in non-conference action Thursday evening from Clark Athletic Center. The men lost 98-82 while the women were defeated 106-82 in its final home meet of the 2014 calendar year.

Jennifer Castillo and Jessie O'Hagan paced the women with a pair of victories. Castillo touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:25.19 to set Old Westbury season-best time. Old Westbury also set a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle relay when Mallory Buzyniski, Castillo, Hayley McGinn and O'Hagan combined for first place in 2:00.35. O'Hagan also claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke race in 1:11.27.

On the men's side, Zach Abetelli swam the 100-yard breaststroke race in 1:22.64 to earn first-place points. Old Westbury's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Yalli Marcan, Takis Kellarakos, Rashaad Bryan and Kareem Bryan touched the wall first to set a season-best time with a 1:41.72 finish. Kareem Bryan also recorded Old Westbury's season-best time in the 50-yard freestyle, arriving in second-place in 24.50.
