@OW_Panthers Swimming sets three season-best times on Senior Day

Old Westbury honored 12 seniors Friday evening in its final home contest

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury swimming closed out their home schedule Friday evening with a Skyline Conference Toys for Tots Senior Day showdown versus the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles and United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners inside Clark Athletic Center. USMMA claimed victory over Old Westbury with a 132-53 women's final and a 115-65 men's decision. St. Joseph's also won the women's race, 113-68.

Prior to the opening race, Old Westbury's 2017-18 senior class consisting of seniors Jerline Aristide, Jack Costanzo, Laura Diaz, Jose Gomez, Byanka Guevara-Rodriguez, Megan Hanselman, Takis Kellarakos, Michele Latcha, Habiba Nofal, Lennart Stuhr, Jessica Tuckruskye and Jonah Wegener were honored as part of the annual senior day ceremony.

Stuhr powered the Panther men by setting Old Westbury's season-best times with a win in the 50-yard freestyle (21.63) and a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (50.97).

Ian Febres, Stuhr, Kellarakos and Jonathan Ruiz helped Old Westbury earn first-place points in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:57.82 followed by second-place points by Costanzo, Gomez, Jalen Bonitto and Lorenzo Cusumano in 5:29.19.

Ruiz captured second-place points in the 200-yard butterfly (2:29.38) and 200-yard backstroke (2:34.89) races. Robert Chiu also earned second-place points in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:50.75).

On the women's side, Nicolette Faldetta set Old Westbury's season-best time with a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:34.33). Faldetta also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:31.39).

Old Westbury's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Faldetta, Shannon Culkin, Brenna Corr and Mia Hidalgo combined to finish in 4:33.88 to register second-place points.

MOUNT SAINT MARY COLLEGE KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to action January 20 on the road with a Skyline Conference regular-season finale versus the Mount Saint Mary College Knights at 1 PM in Newburgh, New York.
