Old Westbury’s Senior Swimming Class of 2015 were honored in its final home meet on Wednesday evening

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury honored its Men's and Women's Senior Swimming Class of 2015 prior to the start of Wednesday's home meet against the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and York Cardinals from Clark Athletic Center. The men defeated the York Cardinals, 61-27, and dropped a 58-34 decision to the United States Merchant Marine Mariners. The Panther women were edged by York, 47-46, and took a 59-33 loss to the Mariners.

Angel Arevalo, Chaz La Salle-Cruz, Jonah Wegener and Santino Patrizi paced the Panther men to first-place honors in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:04.14. Kareem Bryan finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with Old Westbury's season-best time of 24.40. Bryan also added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:08.07. Wegener (8:02.41) and La Salle-Cruz (9:37.72) also logged personal-best times in the 500-yard freestyle race while Zach Abatelli contributed his top-time in the 200-yard freestyle (2:27.72). Tim Rice turned in a second-place showing in the 200-yard IM in 2:39.60 and Abatelli added a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:25.28).

On the women's side, Ashleigh Morris, Hayley McGinn, Jessie O'Hagan and Mallory Buzyniski combined to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:35.75) race. Jacquin Chiriguayo, Jennifer Castillo, Sezgi Giray and McGinn also teamed up to claim second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:16.38). Individually, Buzyniski (50-yard freestyle, 29.86), Castillo (100-yard butterfly, 1:30.63) and O'Hagan (100-yard freestyle, 1:05.70) each recorded second-place finishes.

SARAH LAWRENCE GRYPHONS AND NEW ROCHELLE BLUE ANGELS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 24) for its regular-season finale on the road in New Rochelle, New York to take on the New Rochelle Blue Angels and Sarah Lawrence Gryphons at 2 p.m. from The Wellness Center.
