@OW_Panthers Swimming clashes at home with Maritime in Skyline Conference action

Old Westbury takes it to the road November 21 against Sarah Lawrence and St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming hosted the Maritime Privateers Thursday evening in a Skyline Conference showdown from Clark Athletic Center. The Panther women swam hard against the Privateers, but were outdone in the end, falling 104-81. Old Westbury's men's team were outnumbered and overpowered by Maritime, who claimed victory with a 178-23 final.

Sezgi Giray, Anesa Fiyazuddeen, Habiba El-Sayed and Sara Bey opened the meet for Old Westbury's women's squad with a 200-yard medley relay victory in 2:46.01. Jessie O'Hagan, Samantha Imbembo, Kayleigh Aiello and Melanie Barone combined to take second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:05.97).

O'Hagan paced the Panthers with victories in the 50-yard freestyle (27.59) and 100-yard backstroke (1:13.35) events. Aiello touched the wall first in the 200-yard IM (2:51.28) and added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:23.05). Imbembo (1000-yard freestyle, 15:57.94) and Barone (100-yard breaststroke, 1:33.62) each finished second.

On the men's side, Old Westbury collected points with fourth-place finishes by Jonah Wegener (500-yard freestyle, 7:38.47; 1000-yard freestyle, 15:14.42), Zach Abatelli (100-yard freestyle, 1:00.22; 200-yard freestyle, 2:29.58; 100-yard breaststroke, 1:21.21), Brett Di Salvo (50-yard freestyle, 26.87), Rashaad Bryan (200-yard IM, 3:02.00), Ian Febres (100-yard butterfly, 1:19.09) and Jonathan Derby (100-yard backstroke, 1:04.41).

SARAH LAWRENCE GRYPHONS AND ST. JOSEPH'S (BROOKLYN) BEARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on November 21 when they travel to Bronxville, New York to take on the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons and St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears at 1:30 p.m. in Skyline Conference action from Campbell Sports Center.
