Swimming returns to the pool next on December 9 for Senior Day

BRONX, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming traveled to Bronx, New York to take on the Lehman Lightning in non-conference action Tuesday evening from APEX Arena. The Panther women lost a 104-96 decision while the men's squad fell 104-75.

Samantha Imbembo, Melanie Barone, Kayleigh Aiello and Jessie O'Hagan teamed up to touch the wall first in 2:06.89 for the 200-yard freestyle relay victory. That same relay team claimed individual victories as Imbembo, Aiello and O'Hagan finished first in the one meter diving (214.73), 100-yard butterfly (1:20.26) and 100-yard backstroke (1:11.28) events, respectively. Barone earned first-place points in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:36.97.

Jonathan Derby, Santino Patrizi, Tim Rice and Kevin Ryersen combined to sweep the two relay races that opened and closed the meet on the men's side. The squad clocked a 1:56.60 in the 200-yard medley relay and finished with a winning time of 1:48.49 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Derby (100-yard backstroke, 1:06.00), Patrizi (100-yard breaststroke, 1:12.33) and Jonah Wegener (500-yard freestyle, 6:30.83) also earned first-place points in individual competition.

BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS ON SENIOR DAY: Old Westbury returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 9) when they return home for a Senior Day matchup versus the Brooklyn Bulldogs at 6 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center.
