Old Westbury returns to the road for Saturday’s Skyline Conference tri-meet versus Sarah Lawrence and St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury swimming returned home Wednesday evening to host the Lehman College Lightning in non-conference action inside Clark Athletic Center.

The Panther women captured a 105-91 victory while the men fell 92-79 to the visiting Lightning.

Leading the charge for the Panthers was Samantha Imbembo, who finished first with a season-best time of 16:10.49 in the 1,000-yard freestyle to go along with second place in the 500-yard freestyle (7:55.87). Tatianna Pizarro swam a season-best time of 1:27.87 to finish first in the 100-yard butterfly. Old Westbury recorded season-best times with second-place finishes by Jessie O'Hagan (50-yard freestyle, 28.15) and Melody Young (200-yard freestyle, 2:50.65). O'Hagan (200-yard backstroke, 2:34.08), Megan Hanselman (200-yard breaststroke, 3:28.68), Mia Hidalgo (200-yard IM, 3:02.87) and Sarah Roslonowski (1,000-yard freestyle, 18:26.51) also touched the wall second in their respective events.

Old Westbury opened the race with a first-place showing in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:29.67 by Young, Hanselman, Pizarro and Sezgi Giray. O'Hagan, Pizarro, Imbembo and Hidalgo combined to finish first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a season-best time of 4:56.28, while Habiba Nofal, Jerline Aristide, Chelsea Saavedra and Roslonowski followed in second in 6:34.21.

On the men's side, Kevin Ryersen, Ian Febres, Takis Kellarakos and Chaz La Salle-Cruz teamed up to finish first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a season-best time of 4:10.22. The 200-yard medley relay team of Lorenzo Cusumano, Jonah Wegener, Febres and La Salle-Cruz finished second in 2:12.61.

Old Westbury set season-best times with second-place finishes by Febres (100-yard butterfly, 1:14.63), Ryersen (100-yard freestyle, 59.14) and Wegener (200-yard IM, 2:58.39). Wegener also earned first-place points in the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 3:22.94. Kellarakos (500-yard freestyle, 6:45.01) and Cusumano (200-yard backstroke, 3:25.90) both earned first-place points, while Kellarakos (1,000-yard freestyle, 14:25.19) and Jack Costanzo (500-yard freestyle, 6:45.01) claimed second-place points.
