@OW_Panthers Swimming opens Skyline Conference slate at home versus Maritime

Old Westbury remains at home Thursday (Nov. 16) for non-conference action against College of New Rochelle

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming won first-place points in six event Monday in their home opening Skyline Conference showdown versus the SUNY Maritime Privateers inside Clark Athletic Center. Maritime swept Old Westbury with a 128-51 men's score and a 114-76 women's final.

Nicolette Faldetta registered season-best times to win the 50-yard freestyle (27.54) and 100-yard backstroke (1:09.81 to stretch her unbeaten race streak to seven to open her career. She then finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:18.04. Megan Hanselman touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke to win the race in 1:35.38.

Shannon Culkin produced a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:21.83) and 200-yard IM (2:51.04) events. Mia Hidalgo grabbed the wall second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 14:50.99.

Samantha Imbembo, Hanselman, Culkin and Jessica Tuckruskye combined to finish in 2:27.58 to take second place in the 200-yard medley relay. Old Westbury also took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Imbembo, Hidalgo, Brenna Corr and Tuckruskye clocked a 2:11.30.

On the men's side, Takis Kellarakos (500-yard freestyle, 6:36.73) and Robert Chiu (100-yard backstroke, 1:32.35) both earned first-place points to pace the Panthers in their respective events. Jalen Bonitto totaled second-place points in the 500-yard freestyle in second in 8:41.09.

Ian Febres, Jonah Wegener, Bonitto and Kellarakos helped Old Westbury collect first-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:01.03.

COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE BLUE ANGELS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains at home Thursday (Nov. 16) for a non-conference showdown versus the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.
