Old Westbury returns to action on November 29 against Purchase College

BRONXVILLE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming combined to set eight season-best times Saturday afternoon on the road in Skyline Conference action against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears from Campbell Sports Center Pool in Bronxville, New York. Old Westbury captured a 118-20 men's swimming victory from St. Joseph's and lost 98-74 to the host Gryphons. The Panther women dropped 129-56 and 98-76 decisions to Sarah Lawrence and St. Joseph's, respectively.

Ian Febres, Jonah Wegener, Takis Kellarakos and Jonathan Ruiz closed out the meet with a 200-yard freestyle relay win in 1:49.06. Ruiz won the 200-yard IM (2:23.10) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.21) races to power Old Westbury. Kellarakos registered a pair of second-place finishes to set Old Westbury's season-best times in the 500-yard freestyle (6:12.80) and 1,000-yard freestyle (12:48.22, career-high) events. Old Westbury also set season-best times with second-place finishes by Jose Gomez and Lorenzo Cusumano in the 200-yard freestyle (2:38.49) and 50-yard freestyle (28.01), respectively. Robert Chiu (100-yard breaststroke, 1:33.87) and Febres (100-yard freestyle, 1:07.50) also placed second in their respective events.

On the women's side, Brenna Corr captured first-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (7:03.15) and 1,000-yard freestyle (14:48.51) races to pace Old Westbury. Old Westbury also set season-best times with strong individual efforts by Corr in the 100-yard butterfly (1:32.21, 4th place), Nicolette Faldetta in the 200-yard IM (2:40.03, 3rd place) and 200-yard freestyle (2:18.88, 4th place), and Shannon Culkin in the 100-yard freestyle (1:07.18, 5th place). Samantha Imbembo, Culkin, Mia Hidalgo and Jessica Tuckruskye combined to set a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:10.38 to finish third.
