@OW_Panthers Men’s Swimming tops Purchase to register Skyline win

Old Westbury remains on the road Saturday (Dec. 2) for a non-conference showdown at William Paterson University

PURCHASE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming combined to win 11 events Wednesday on the road against the Purchase College Panthers in Skyline Conference action. Old Westbury won the men's race with a 96-65 decision while the Panther women fell 94-80.

Takis Kellarakos and Jonathan Ruiz powered the Panther men with a pair of first-place finishes. Kellarakos set a season-best time in the 500-yard freestyle (6:11.99) in addition to winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:02.26) while Ruiz won the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.25) and 100-yard backstroke (1:08.94). Ian Febres touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.67.

Jonah Wegener, Robert Chiu, Febres and Jalen Bonitto combined to win the 200-yard medley relay (2:41.32). Bonitto, Kellarakos, Febres and Ruiz closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.68).

On the women's side, Shannon Culkin, Samantha Imbembo, Laura Diaz and Megan Hanselman set a season-best time to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:09.35.

Individually, Culkin (200-yard freestyle, 2:28.72), Imbembo (100-yard freestyle, 1:14.33) and Nicolette Faldetta (50-yard freestyle, 28.94) placed first in their respective events.
