Old Westbury remains on the road for Friday’s (Nov. 10) non-conference tilt at York College

BRONX, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming combined to collect first-place points in 11 events during Wednesday's 2017-18 season opener against the Lehman College Lightning from APEX Arena in Bronx, New York. Lehman swept the non-conference showdown with a 104-87 men's score and a 111-85 women's final.

Nicolette Faldetta powered the Panther women with a pair of victories in the 50-yard freestyle (28.55) and 100-yard backstroke (1:12.10) events. Samantha Imbembo (1-meter diving, 190.50), Mia Hidalgo (100-yard freestyle, 1:12.76) and Brenna Corr (1,000-yard freestyle, 14.40.67) all totaled first-place finishes. Imbembo also earned first-place points in the 500-yard freestyle in 7:42.32. Habiba Nofal touched the wall second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (16:47.82) while Shannon Culkin also chipped in with second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (1:17.14) and 200-yard IM (2:48.67) events.

Faldetta, Culkin, Imbembo and Megan Hanselman teamed up to place second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:20.53.

On the men's side, Jonathan Ruiz paced Old Westbury with victories in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.93) and 200-yard IM (2:19.34) races. Takis Kellarakos grabbed the wall second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 13:57.26. Old Westbury also generated first-place points in the 500-yard freestyle (Kellarakos, 6:45.22), 100-yard breaststroke (Robert Chiu, 1:30.16) and 100-yard freestyle (Jack Costanzo, 1:19.72) events.

Ruiz, Kellarakos, Ian Febres and Jalen Bonitto swam the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:48.68 to place second.

YORK COLLEGE CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains on the road Friday (Nov. 10) for a non-conference showdown on the road against the York College Cardinals at 6 p.m. inside York College Swimming Pool in Jamaica, New York.
