PATCHOGUE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2014-15 campaign on Saturday afternoon against the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles and Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins from Danzi Center in Patchogue, New York. The Panther men won eight of the 11 races to defeat Mount Saint Vincent, 64-24. On the women's side, Old Westbury captured a 51-32 victory over Mount Saint Vincent before falling to St. Joseph's (L.I.), 70-23.

The men won both relays as David Stanley, Tim Rice, Kareem Bryan and Yalli Marcan combined to touch the wall in 1:59.29 in the 200-yard medley relay. Rice, Kareem Bryan, Rashaad Bryan and Takis Kellarakos then tallied a winning time 200-yard freestyle relay time of 1:48.31.

Individually, Kareem Bryan (200-yard freestyle, 2:19.94), Marcan (200-yard IM, 2:37.88), Rice (100-yard butterfly, 1:06.60), Rashaad Bryan (1:03.81, 100-yard freestyle), Stanley (100-yard backstroke, 1:07.57) and Zach Abatelli (100-yard backstroke, 1:26.50) all finished first in their respective races.

On the women's side, Mallory Buzyniski, Jennifer Castillo, Hayley McGinn and Jessie O'Hagan teamed up to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2:03.36. Melanie Barone earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (7:50.81) and 100-yard backstroke (1:33.71) events while O'Hagan finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.10).

BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on November 11 against the Brooklyn Bulldogs in a non-conference battle from Clark Athletic Center at 6 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.
