Jessie O’Hagan led Old Westbury with a trio of first-place finishes

PURCHASE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury swimming returned to Skyline Conference action Tuesday evening on the road against the Purchase College Panthers in Purchase, New York.

Purchase claimed victory over Old Westbury with a 95-82 women's final, and an 88-63 men's decision.

On the women's side, Jessie O'Hagan had her hand in a trio of first-place finishes to pace Old Westbury. O'Hagan finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.21) and 100-yard backstroke (1:13.13) races before combining with Samantha Imbembo, Tatianna Pizarro and Sezgi Giray to claim first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:42.21. Giray, Megan Hanselman, Pizarro and Sara Bey finished second in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:41.77. Imbembo (1,000-yard freestyle, 14:58.82), Pizarro (100-yard butterfly, 1:32.94) and Laura Diaz (200-yard freestyle, 3:28.73) all finished second in their respective races. Old Westbury earned first and second-place points in the 100-yard breaststroke event by Mia Hidalgo (1:32.51) and Hanselman (1:38.80), respectively.

On the men's side, Takis Kellarakos paced Old Westbury with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.26, followed by Kevin Ryersen in second in 1:03.31. Kellarakos also touched the wall second in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:21.06. Ryersen (50-yard freestyle, 25.72), Jonah Wegener (1,000-yard freestyle, 15:27.75), Ian Febres (100-yard butterfly, 1:27.18) and Jack Costanzo (100-yard backstroke, 1:40.88) produced second-place finishes in their respective events. Ryersen, Chaz La Salle-Cruz, Costanzo and Febres closed out the evening with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.00. Costanzo, Wegener, Febres and La Salle-Cruz teamed to claim first-place points in the 200-medley relay in 2:31.54.

ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE (L.I.) GOLDEN EAGLES AND UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Friday (Dec. 9) when they travel to Patchogue, New York to take on the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles and United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners in Skyline Conference action at 6 p.m. inside Danzi Center.
