@OW_Panthers Women’s Swimming victorious at home over New Rochelle

Old Westbury hits the road Saturday (Nov. 18) to take on Sarah Lawrence College and St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's and women's swimming combined to win eight events Thursday evening at home against the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels inside Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury won the women's race with a 108-79 decision while the Panther men fell 105-74.

Nicolette Faldetta won a pair of races with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.85) in addition to setting a team-best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle (2:22.73). Brenna Corr claimed the 100-yard freestyle win in 1:09.26 before Mia Hidalgo touched the wall in 1:33.26 to finish first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Old Westbury swept the relay event as Melody Young, Habiba Nofal, Shannon Culkin and Corr opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:30.25. Samantha Imbembo, Hidalgo, Culkin and Jessica Tuckruskye closed out the evening with a 200-yard freestyle win in 2:14.69.

On the men's side, Old Westbury posted victories in both relays. Lorenzo Cusumano, Robert Chiu, Ian Febres and Jack Costanzo won the 200-yard medley relay (2:21.57) while Febres, Jonathan Ruiz, Jonah Wegener and Takis Kellarakos finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.78).

Individually, Wegener (1,000-yard freestyle, 16:03.19 / 200-yard IM, 3:07.62), Kellarakos (100-yard freestyle, 57.69 / 500-yard freestyle, 6:45.63) and Ruiz (100-yard backstroke, 1:06.21 / 100-yard butterfly, 1:00.10) paced Old Westbury with a pair of second-place finishes. Chiu finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:32.67.

JOSEPH'S COLLEGE (BROOKLYN) BEARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels to Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York on Saturday (Nov. 18) for a 1:30 p.m. Skyline Conference showdown against the host Gryphons and St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears inside Campbell Sports Center Pool.
